How did this happen?! It's like I started production yesterday.
I am in the process of animating roughs for the third scene of the film, and it's shaping up to be the easiest scene of all.  Unfortunately, as we hurtle towards finals season, the workload from my three other classes is ramping up and that balancing act slows my capstone progress.  But once I get working on a shot from scene 3, it gets animated so much faster than everything else from the previous two scenes.  The complexity of this part of the film lies less in the mechanics of the movements, and more in getting the facial expressions and timing just right so that the "conversation" between the two cats flows properly.
I am disappointed to report that I will almost certainly not meet my goal of having touched every shot of this film by the end of the semester.  So I am pivoting to hopefully have rough animation for every shot from scenes 1,2,3 and 6 by that time.  This would leave two scenes of animation to rough out either over winter break or once I return from it.  Not ideal in my eyes, though I know that I am trying my best to do this idea justice.
