I'm not sure exactly how to open this post.  After all the hard work I've put into the film this year, I'll be lucky if I get the remaining animation done fast enough to address any background elements prior to the deadline before FUSE.  I've accepted the uncomfortable reality that what I'll be showing there is gravely unfinished compared to what I hoped to achieve by this time.  But I don't want to miss what might be its only opportunity to ever show the big screen since it's being offered to me-even if I have to present the film unfinished to do so.  So for now, I intend to swallow my pride, and consider Friday and Saturday a "test screening" for the finished film that will come this summer.
After FUSE, my goal is to spend no more than 2 months finishing up 10th Life-making real backgrounds, mixing the music a little better, and adding extra little effects.  At the absolute stretchiest, maybe some cel shading on the cats and a few little background animations, like plants waving in the wind.  Most likely, I probably shouldn't in the interest of sticking to my 2 month time limit.  One absolutely crucial lesson learned throughout the process of making this film, both within the film and in other endeavors outside of it, is that I can only stretch myself so thin.
And unfortunately, the last eight months were a harsh reminder that life factors outside of art can still diminish how thin I stretch myself artistically, even though I've fought pretty hard to prevent that from happening.  Especially considering that trying to make this whole film, for me, was no small feat, considering its length and how new I am to the process of making a whole film start to finish.

EDIT 4/22-I was trying to finish up a lot at once around the time this post was made and never decided what to put for the visual.  But as of today I've decided this last shot that I worked on before submitting for FUSE seemed like it suited this post.
