Here I find myself on the second week in a row where I haven't accomplished as much as I wanted to with regards to animating this film. I've been working on it nearly every day it seems, but progress is slow. Part of that is finding out firsthand that quadruped animation has that reputation of complexity for a reason. But that part isn't a bad thing, it's the kind of challenge that I intentionally seek out when given a choice on what to animate.
This week, I ended up allocating time that could have been spent doing more new animation to revisit last week's run cycle, because it was still unfortunately missing a lot. While still not perfect, I think it's now good enough to use as a template, most importantly for the leg movement.
(**Update: Unfortunately it looks like I accidentally deleted a frame on one of the back legs, throwing their rhythm off. An easy fix, I'll replace the GIF when I get time.)
In addition, I now have a walk cycle template with all four legs.
There are so many options for what to work on next, so I can't say for sure what that will be at the moment. Other than I will need to make myself a schedule to outline all the steps to this process.
