Well, ironically the color palette is still dominated by blues, but I was trying to keep the clever titles coming!
Even though I just focused on blocking out the base colors of most backgrounds this week, seeing the animation accompanied by a more tangible "world" is certainly making a difference in how I perceive the project. I probably am not capable of going too many blog posts without expressing that I wish I had made better progress, but I daresay it seems like the film is farther along than I thought. That and stringing together a full, updated rough cut of all the rough animations I've been working so hard on was a good decision for this week in terms of getting a more holistic visualization of where I'm at, and what remains to be done.
Of course I'm not going to post that rough cut here, I don't want to spoil the whole film! But these are two of the messy background blockouts that I was happy with. I wanted to use primarily cool and dark colors in the forest, and complimentary bright, saturated colors inside the house, with a transition between the two with the backgrounds the cats run by. I'm pleased by how the ghost matches the cooler tones of the forest, and the kitten matches the warmer ones of the home. So here's some forest and the interior of the house for comparison!
